(TERRE HAUTE) - A new movie is being produced in Terre Haute and has brought some star power to the city.
The movie, called "The Drunk," is about the grandson of Eugene V. Debs, named Joe, who runs for governor of Indiana. Eugene Debs was a Terre Haute native, one of the founding members of the International Labor Union and a five-time presidential candidate as a member of the Socialist Party of America.
Joe Debs, a fictitious character, is being played by the film's co-creator William Tanoos who says they decided to film in Terre Haute when they decided to base the film on an actual person.
Actor Tom Sizemore is also starring in the film as Debs' gubernatorial opponent along with former wrestler-turned-governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Ventura plays the incumbent Indiana governor who is leaving office after two terms.
Tanoos says they've received a lot of funding from local investors who are happy to see the film being made in Terre Haute.
