(MUNCIE) - Muncie Police are waiting for the autopsy results on a body found on a recreational trail Wednesday.
Captain Mark Vollmar says the body was found by a group of employees from Ag Best who were inspecting the edge of the company property and smelled something in a nearby wooded area.
Vollmar would not speculate as to how long the body had been at that location or if police believe that it is Kimberly Nelson. Nelson has been missing since August 1st.
Vollmar says the investigation into Nelson's disappearance has been ongoing since it was reported. Detectives are currently combing over phone records looking for clues in the case.
Vollmar says if the coroner determines the body is that of Nelson, then the investigation will proceed accordingly. Until then, Vollmar says Nelson's case will continue as a missing persons investigation.
