(WEST LAFAYETTE) - The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will hold one of three public hearings tonight on the proposed rate hike for Indiana-American Water Company.
Customers in North Central Indiana are encouraged to attend the hearing in West Lafayette at the Ross-Ade Pavillion at 6pm. Another hearing is scheduled in Gary at city hall tomorrow evening. A third hearing will be at the Jeffersonville auditorium Monday, August 29th.
Indiana-American Water Company is asking for approval to increase revenues by $20.3 million or 10.48 percent. Specific rate increases would vary by territory to achieve this amount.
West Lafayette would see the largest increase with a 61-percent hike. The smallest hike is estimated at less than 6 percent, but the varying rates would put all Indiana-American Water Customers closer to the same monthly average.
The IURC is taking public comment for the case record through September 28th.
