(MUNCIE) - A Ball State economist says, if passed, some portions of President Obama’s jobs bill would have an impact in the short run.
Dr. Mike Hicks says the suspension of the social security payroll tax through 2012 and the unemployment compensation increase could be felt nationwide and in Indiana this year.
Dr. Hicks says reducing the cost of hiring and putting money in the hands of working people would increase economic activity sooner rather than later.
Dr. Hicks says an overhaul of the tax code would also help the economy by creating a broader base where everyone pays a little.
