(FORT WAYNE) - A former employee of the Allen County treasurer has been accused of using county funds to cover bad checks.
29-year-old Joseph Hurt was charged Friday with theft, official misconduct and corrupt business influence.
The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reports Hurt overlooked checks returned to the treasurer's office because of non-sufficient funds and charged the payments to the county as bank fees. An internal audit showed Hurt may have mishandled up to $93,550 in transactions.
