(INDIANAPOLIS) - A state audit blames the former clerk of the Martinsville city court for more than $35,000 dollars in missing funds.
The State Board of Accounts launched an investigation of Cathy Neal after finding fines paid to the court were being deposited up to four months late.
City Judge Mark Peden fired Neal in March after she allegedly acknowledged taking court money.
Auditors say Neal made $30,000 dollars in deposits to the court's account after her dismissal, but they say daily receipts indicate another $35,000 is still missing.
The board has asked Neal to repay that money and $14,000 dollars in audit costs.
