Last updated on Friday, September 9, 2011

(UNDATED) - Indiana Department of Homeland Security Director Joe Wainscott says as America gets closer to the tenth anniversary of 9/11 our first line of defense, is citizens.

He says a single tip may not mean much on its own, but when it is coupled with another tip, it can sometimes suggest something bad is going to happen.

New threats have emerged and are timed to coincide with Sunday's anniversary of the attacks. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the city will be more vigilant as the anniversary approaches.

Indiana should not rule itself out in helping prevent a terrorist attack. He says the experience here in Indianapolis is immense and will be very put to use.

The latest threats are specific to New York City and Washington D.C.
