(NOBLESVILLE) - The Indiana Department of Transportation recently held an open house to inform residents in Hamilton County on the latest information regarding the construction on U.S. 31.
About 300 people showed up with various questions about the project. In-dot's Will Wingfield says they will be bidding out a contract within the next month for work on U.S. 31 from the Monon Trail in Carmel to Greyhound Pass.
As part of the project, In-dot will be rebuilding some bridges that connect Keystone Avenue with U.S. 31.
The project will require some short-term closures. Construction on that portion of U.S. 31 will begin next spring.
Crews are already working on the State Road 38 interchange and widening the 146th Street bridge over U.S. 31.
Wingfield says the entire project, which is scheduled to be complete in 2018, is being done in pieces in order to minimize traffic issues in an already congested area.
Residents can find more information on the project at us31hamiltoncounty.in.gov/interchanges.html
