(JAPAN) - Lt. Governor Becky Skillman and members of her trade delegation to Japan were able to leave for Tokyo Wednesday afternoon.
The original flight scheduled for Tuesday was cancelled due to the typhoon that struck Japan. Today's flight left Indianapolis at 12:45 p.m. The connection flight from Minneapolis to Tokyo is scheduled to leave before 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, and arrive in Tokyo around 4 a.m. EDT (5 p.m. in Tokyo).
The following events that had been set for Thursday in Japan have been cancelled and are not likely to be rescheduled:
Thursday, September 22
Meeting with Kikkoman CEO Yuzaburo Mogi
Miscellaneous company meetings
"Friends of Indiana" reception in Tokyo
The delegation will begin their regularly scheduled itinerary on Friday. Below is the full itinerary:
Friday, September 23
The delegation will be shown landmarks in Tochigi Prefecture and meet with Governor Tomikazu Fukuda and Vice Governor Junichi Sato of Tochigi Prefecture. Lt. Governor Skillman will meet with Mayor Tatsuya Kochugi of Motegi to present an earthquake relief check from Speedway High School.
Saturday, September 24
The delegation will visit Fuji Heavy Industry's (Subaru) Factory and meet with several Subaru suppliers in Ota City.
Sunday, September 25
Midwest US-Japan Association (MWJA) Conference welcome reception.
Monday, September 26
The delegation will attend portions of the MWJA Conference. Lt. Governor Skillman will travel to Sony to visit with executives.
Tuesday, September 27
Lt. Governor Skillman will deliver a keynote address at the MWJA closing ceremony. In the afternoon, the delegation will attend an agriculture association meeting and meet with executives from several Japanese commodity groups. The delegation will also meet with executives from several companies including Mitsubishi (Indiana Packers), Itochu, and Subaru.
Wednesday, September 28
The delegation will meet with executives from Toyota, Aisin Seiki, and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 7:15 Depart Hotel for Tokyo Station all Delegates. They will also host of Friends of Indiana Reception in Nagoya.
Thursday, September 29
Travel from Tokyo to Indianapolis.
