(LAFAYETTE) - The family of a slain Lafayette man has given notice that it intends to sue the Indiana Department of Correction over the mistaken early release from prison of one of the men accused of killing him.
The Journal and Courier reports the family of Jeremy Gibson submitted the tort claim over the July attack in rural Tippecanoe County.
Family Attorney Jeff Cooke said the prison system's handling of the release of Antonio O.J. Williams was "outrageous." Williams was mistakenly released 17 months before his sentence was scheduled to end.
