(INDIANAPOLIS) - About 100 women have participated in the latest breast-tissue collection drive at IU’s Simon Cancer Center.
IUPUI's Komen For The Cure Tissue Bank is the only one in the world which collects both healthy and cancerous breast tissue.
Researchers are looking for differences between the two which might unlock the secret of who gets the disease and how to treat it.
Lisa Miller is an administrative assistant at the center. She donated healthy tissue years ago -- then was back to donate again after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Miller's now cancer-free following chemo and surgery. The next collection day is November 5 in Bloomington.
