(TERRE HAUTE) - A Brazil man faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after his car was hit by a slow-moving train on Terre Haute far northeast side late Tuesday.
25-year-old Randall Kline, was arrested Wednesday afternoon, after police found him at a residence on East Beulah Street.
The conductor of the CSX train told Police that a car drove around the crossing gate on Haythorne Street near 35th Street. After the impact, the train stopped about 1,150 feet on down the track.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene but could not find the driver, who later called 911 to report the accident.
Kline told police that he could not stop his car at the crossing because his car's brakes failed. Kline gave no reason why he fled the scene, according to a police report. He declined medical treatment.
