(KOKOMO) (AP) - Police say a driver disregarded a school bus stop arm and struck a kindergartner who was crossing a Kokomo street.
The boy was in stable condition at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, where he was taken after being hit Tuesday morning by a pickup truck.
Police Maj. Brian Seldon says the bus was stopped on the street on the city's east side to pick up the child, who waited with his mother until the driver extended the stop arm.
Seldon says the 44-year-old truck driver wasn't immediately arrested or ticketed. The case will be given to the Howard County prosecutor's office.
