(INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and former U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton will lead a group that’s coordinating events to mark Indiana’s upcoming bicentennial.
Gov. Mitch Daniels said Wednesday the two will lead a group of civic and business leaders planning events to commemorate Indiana's 200th anniversary as a state in 2016.
Daniels also appointed U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker, Indiana University historian James Madison, Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard and five others to the 13-member board.
Daniels says the bicentennial will be an important chance for Hoosiers to remember their history and thereby strengthen the state's civic fabric.
