(INDIANAPOLIS)(AP) - Bed sores were again the most common Indiana medical errors last year, closely followed by foreign objects left inside patients after surgeries.
The Indiana State Department of Health released its 2010 Medical Error Report on Monday. It cited 34 stage three or stage four bed sores after hospital admissions - the most common problem in 4 of the last five years - and 33 foreign objects left behind after surgeries.
Other common mistakes were 17 falls resulting in deaths or disabilities and 14 surgeries on the wrong body parts.
The report says there were no reported medication errors resulting in deaths or disabilities. In previous years there have been three to eight medication errors.
The report can be found on the Indiana State Department of Health's website at www.statehealth.in.gov.
