(INDIANAPOLIS)(WISH) - A bicyclist died Monday afternoon when a dump truck struck him on the south side, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say.
The crash happened at 12:48 p.m. near Banta Road and Madison Avenue.
The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was sent to the scene, but IMPD officials say alcohol isn't believed to have been a factor in the accident.
IMPD officials believe the dump truck was westbound on Banta Road when it began turning northbound onto Madison Avenue. At that time, the cyclist was trying to cross Madison Avenue from the east side and collided with the dump truck.
Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name wasn't released Monday afternoon.
