(EVANSVILLE) - Evansville Police make a drug arrest after a neighboring home catches fire. It happened Sunday night in Evansville around 9:30 p.m. on East Maryland Street.
Fire officials say they're not sure yet how the fire started at 628 E. Maryland St.
Evansville Police say they entered the home next to the burning building after seeing an upstairs light on, and a condemned notice on the front door. They say they found what appeared to be a one pot meth lab upstairs and a man sleeping in one of the rooms.
Police arrested the man they found sleeping, 43-year-old Joseph Wayne Cupp, and have charged him with dealing cocaine. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
