(LOUSIVILLE KY.) - Louisville police say a school employee stole medication from a 10-year-old student.
Shelly Settle is accused of taking 10 pills from the medicine cabinet safe at Centerfield Elementary School in Crestwood.
The prescription medication was meant for a student with ADHD. Oldham County Police say Settle admitted to stealing the pills from a locked safe, and says she replaced the prescription with baby aspirin.
She's charged with theft of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a minor. School leaders say the student was never given wrong medicine.
Settle has been fired and Oldham County Schools is looking through back records to see if this was the first time she's taken pills or just the first time she's been caught. It's also looking at security procedures for medication.
