(JEFFERSONSVILLE) - A southern Indiana man who police say confessed to fatally stabbing his estranged wife intends to use an insanity defense.
The News and Tribune reports 46-year-old Edward Dale Bagshaw has filed a notice of intent signaling that he plans to use an insanity defense. He's being held without bond in the Clark County Jail pending a trial scheduled to begin April 3.
Bagshaw is charged with murder in the November 13 slaying of 30-year-old Kelly Bagshaw in a parking lot outside his apartment.
Police say the Jeffersonville man fatally stabbed his estranged wife inside her car after she arrived to pick up their two children.
Court documents state that the couple's children, ages 2 and 6, watched the fatal attack from a window in the apartment.
