(VAN BUREN) - A former northern Indiana prison guard is accused of trying to poison his wife by spiking her soft drinks with weed killer, anti-freeze, rubbing alcohol and a prescription drug.
41-year-old Jon Krum, of Van Buren, bonded out of the Grant County Jail after being charged with attempted aggravated battery.
Internal affairs at the Miami Correctional Facility tipped state police after Krum allegedly asked another prison staffer for a prescription drug so he could slip it to his wife and make her ill. In all, he allegedly tried to poison her four times, but each time she discarded the drinks before becoming ill.
Krum no longer works at the prison.
