(SHELBYVILLE, KY) - What started as a breaking and entering call to Shelbyville police ended with two officers hurt and 18-year-old Trey Williams shot dead in his own home
Kentucky State Police are now investigating. Trooper Ron Turley said the officers responded to the French Quarters housing development on Clifton Court in Shelbyville on word that a man with a crowbar had busted out a window and broken into a house.
It happened just before 2 p.m. Saturday. Police say Williams assaulted them with a pipe.
Officers responded with gunfire and Williams was shot and killed. Williams grandmother Dorothy Farris says Williams called her just before the shooting to ask why a maintenance man was at the house when the family had no worked scheduled.
Farris is questioning if this could have been the suspicious person in the neighborhood. Police would not comment on Farris's question.
The officers involved are expected to be ok. They've been placed on routine administrative leave as the investigation continues.
