(SOUTH BEND) - A heart attack killed a northern Indiana woman just 19 hours after the death of her husband. Family is saying she died of a broken heart.
93-year-old Leo Michael of South Bend died Oct. 20 and his 88-year-old wife, Isabelle, died 19 hours later, on Oct. 21. They were married 65 years and lived in separate rooms on the same hall of the Sanctuary at Holy Cross nursing home.
The morning after her husband died, she got her hair done and went to a funeral home with family members to make arrangements. She found herself struggling to breathe during the drive back to the nursing home, and as they reached its front doors, suffered a massive heart attack. Nurses couldn't revive her.
