Last updated on Tuesday, December 20, 2011

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An 11-year-old boy was arrested Sunday afternoon after admitting to throwing knives at a relative.

Police went to the boy's home on the city's east side after his 16-year-old cousin called police.

The cousin told police the two boys were playing a video game when the 11-year-old became upset because he was losing, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.

The cousin told the boy to stop taking the game so seriously. As a result, the 11-year-old went to the kitchen and grabbed some knives. When he returned, the boy began throwing the knives at his 16-year-old cousin.

Although the thrown knives didn't hit the 16-year-old, the teen tried restraining the boy and was cut in the hand as a result, according to the report. He declined medical treatment when officers arrived.

The boy's mother returned home after the attack. With his mom present, the 11-year-old told police he threw the knives because he has anger issues, the report said. He was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness and battery with injury.
