(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man is accused of hitting a police officer after the officer attempted to stop his vehicle.
Richard D. Corbin, 43, of Columbus, was arrested Sunday afternoon on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, battery on a police officer and for being a habitual traffic offender.
Columbus Police Patrolman John Searle attempted to stop Corbin's car at 5:41 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Ohio Street because it matched the description of a reportedly stolen vehicle.
Corbin allegedly refused to stop and pulled into a yard, where he ran from the vehicle.
After police caught up with him, Corbin allgedly hit Searle more than once.
Columbus Patrolman Brian Kushman arrived and assisted Searle in arresting Corbin.
Searle's injuries did not require medical treatment, according to reports.
The officers determined the car Corbin was driving was not stolen.
