(OAKLAND CITY) - Indiana State Police arrested a couple for child neglect after serving a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.
The arrests happened Sunday night. 59-year-old Allen Underwood was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in Vanderburg County.
While at the home, police said the home was unsanitary. Cockroaches infested the walls, ceiling, floor, curtains, dishes and food. Officers discovered that seven adults and three children lived in the home.
The parents, 24-year-old Joel Frederickson and 23-year-old Laura Frederickson, and their three children, ages five, three and one, were not at the residence when police arrived.
While waiting for the parents, troopers noticed one of the children's bed had more than 100 cockroaches on the top blanket. When the couple arrived home they were arrested and the three children were taken into protective custody by Gibson County Department of Child Services.
