(INDIANAPOLIS) - One person is dead following an interstate crash on Indianapolis’ Northeast side Thursday night.
State police say a car driven by an 89-year-old Noblesville man was traveling northbound on I-465 in the southbound lane with his headlights turned off when he collided with a vehicle driven by Kimberly Lewis of Franklin.
Lewis and a truck driver who had stopped at the scene were able to pull Robert Brown out of his car as it caught fire, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lewis was taken to Wishard hospital with non-life-threatening injures. No one else was hurt.
Sgt. Myers says it's unclear why the man was driving the wrong way or why his headlights were not turned on.
