(LOUISVILLE, Ky.)(WDRB) - Members of the Louisville Metro Narcotics Unit say they have made a major pot bust in Wooded Falls Drive in Middletown early Friday.
One detective said this is the most extensive and well laid-out growing operation he's seen in 20 years. Police say the suspect is a huge player in the marijuana growing industry and this case could cross state lines.
Narcotics officers had only been tracking the suspect for about a week when they made the bust at around 11 p.m. Friday. Police suited in protective gear seized boxes and trash bags filled with high-grade marijuana.
Police say the grow is so huge, the suspect only used the home to grow marijuana and lived somewhere else.
The suspect's name is not being released because narcotics detectives hope to make more arrests. The 66-year-old man is facing a cultivating marijuana charge, but it's possible other charges could be tacked on.
The marijuana was grown using a hydroponic system, making it valued at a higher street value than regular marijuana that grows from dirt.
The man, was busted 20 years ago in Florida with 1000 pounds of marijuana.
