(COLUMBUS) - Police are searching for a man they say grabbed a woman by her hair at a Columbus church Friday morning before she escaped to safety.
The woman was walking into the World of Pentecost church at 3939 Central Ave. at 6:30 a.m. Friday when a man grabbed her hair from behind, Columbus Police Lt. Joe Richardson said.
The woman freed herself and ran into the church, where she locked herself in and called police.
When officers arrived, the man had left the area. They used police dogs to track the man's scent but could not find him, Richardson said.
He said police do not have a description of the man, but are interested in talking to the driver of a dark-color work van that was seen driving in the area around the time of the incident.
Anyone with information can call Columbus Police Department at 376-2600. Tips can be made anonymously.
