(COLUMBUS) - Another valuable, rare coin was discovered inside one the Salvation Army’s red kettles in Columbus.
The coin, wrapped in a dollar bill, is worth $850.
The 1980 Marian Anderson commemorative gold coin was dropped into a kettle outside of Sam's Club on Tuesday.
The donation comes on the heels of an announcement that for the third year in a row, someone has dropped a gold Krugerrand worth about $1,6000 into a Kokomo kettle.
Salvation Army Capt. Dale Brandenburg said the anonymous donors also have left seven 1-ounce silver coins, each worth about $29, in red kettles in the Kokomo area.
