(INDIANAPOLIS) - Despite this week’s rain, it’s still possible central Indiana will see a white Christmas this year.
Cooler air will be returning for the weekend, dropping highs from the 40s into the mid-30s, RTV6's Chief Meteorologist Kevin Gregory reported.
The current weather pattern has saturated central Indiana with days of rain, while prompting blizzard warnings to the west.
As that system moves out, rain chances will drop to only 20 percent Thursday and Friday.
On Saturday and Sunday, highs will be in the 30s, ushering in the chance of snow or a rain-snow mix.
Since 1871, central Indiana has either had a light snow or a trace of snow falling on Christmas day 82 times, or just less than 60 percent of the time.
