(NORTH VERNON) - An investigation into 15 guns taken from a sporting goods store have led to the arrest of two juveniles and the recovery of the guns in North Vernon and Seymour.
According to a press release issued by the Jennings County Sheriff Steve Hoppock on Friday, the investigation began when police responded to an alarm at John's Sporting Goods at 200 N. State St. in North Vernon.
During an investigation of a burglary, police found that 15 handguns have been taken from inside display cases at the business.
Lead investigators Detective Sgt. Jim Blevins and Sgt. Jeff Jones later located two suspects, who were interviewed. As a result of the interviews, police said they recovered some of the guns in the North Vernon area and the remainder in Seymour.
Both juveniles, who are 16, were arrested and taken to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center in Brownstown.
