(VINCENNES)(AP) - Crews have torn down the last walls of a department store building dating to the 1850s that was destroyed by a weekend fire in downtown Vincennes.
Officials say Monday's demolition of the Old Gimbel Corner building was needed because it was unsafe after the fire that broke out Saturday night.
The Vincennes Sun-Commercial reports investigators say the extent of the damage makes it impossible to determine what caused the fire.
The building was long home of the Gimbels Department Store and recently housed antiques and home exterior businesses in the city that was Indiana's territorial capital from 1800 to 1813.
