(SULLIVAN) - The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, on U.S. 41, caught fire. The fire started in the laundry room around 8 p.m. Friday.
Firefighters battled the blaze for two hours. No one was injured, according to Sullivan City Fire Department Chief Rob Robertson.
The fire was contained to the laundry room, away from where inmates are housed. No evacuations were necessary, according to Robertson. The laundry area is in a different building, then where inmates are housed.
Multiple fire departments were called to the scene. Carlisle's Haddon Township Fire Deparment and the prison's firefighter team assisted.
The fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal's office. The maximum security facility houses, where the most dangerous offenders are housed is home to about 2,100 inmates.
