(UNDATED) - Ford Motor Co. is recalling approximately half a million vehicles worldwide due to mechanical issues.
The company said they are recalling 205,896 Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans with the model years of 2004 and 2005. Ford issued the recall due to the possibilities of the torque converter output shafts failing, which could cause a sudden loss of power resulting in a crash.
Additionally, Ford issued a recall of 244,530 Escape SUVs made during 2001 to 2002. The company said the SUVs' brake master cylinder reservoir cap could leak brake fluid, which could cause a fire.
The company said they will inform the owners of the recalls, and dealers will replace the affected auto parts free of charge.
If you have one of these cars, you should park outside, away from buildings until the repairs are made.
