(FORT WAYNE)(WANE) - A fight between two students at Jefferson Middle School in Fort Wayne led to the discovery of a loaded handgun Monday.
Police said they were called to the school at 5303 Wheelock Road a little after 1:00 in the afternoon when some sort of altercation took place between the students. During the course of the investigation, the school resource officer and school officials learned that there might be a gun on the premises.
According to police, they searched the school and discovered a handgun in a restroom. There were bullets in the magazine and a bullet in the chamber.
The investigation showed the weapon was brought to school to be sold.
Three eighth-grade students were taken to the Allen County Juvenile Center. Here are the charges they face:
• Male, age 13: Possession of a Handgun on School Property, Possession of a Handgun without a Permit, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct.
• Male, age 14: Possession of a Handgun on School Property, and Possession of a Handgun without a Permit.
• Male, age 13: Disorderly Conduct.
