Seymour Man Faces Burglary Charges

(NORTH VERNON) - A Seymour man faces charges in a Jennings County home burglary after police traced to him a receipt left at the scene of the crime.

Jennings County Sheriff's Department today a burglary on Road 900W near Road 500N where several items had been stolen from a house and garage.

Deputies found a folded piece of paper lying near where the thief or thieves had entered the home.

The paper was a recent rent receipt from a Seymour apartment complex, according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies followed up on the lead with help from Seymour Police Department and arrested 37-year-old Ronald I. Meek of Seymour.

The investigation is ongoing, but Meek faces charges of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing.

Meek was being held without bond at Jennings County Jail this afternoon.
