(MUNCIE) - A reported unprovoked attack on a Ball State University student has prompted the university to issue a public safety alert.
The Star Press reported that Ball State issued the alert to students, faculty and staff at 3:35 a.m. Sunday after "a male student was attacked without provocation" by two other men in the 1200 block of West Marsh Street, near the Muncie campus.
"One suspect was described as African-American, approximately 6-feet tall, with a heavy build," the university said in a statement. "Another was described as African-American, approximately 6-feet tall, with a slender build."
The alert indicated that no weapon was reported to have been at the scene.
University officials urged those on campus to practice good safety habits, including avoiding walking alone at night.
