(COLUMBUS) - Two Columbus men exchanged four hours of freedom for six years in prison when they were sentenced for a failed escape attempt from a jail work crew.
Robert J. Norton III, 28, and Bruce L. Martin, 26, each received six-year sentences for the escape attempt in June, which ended when authorities found them four hours later in Country Squire Lakes in Jennings County.
The men were in Bartholomew County Jail for violating probation on previous convictions when they ran from a work crew assignment at the Bartholomew County Highway Department garage on State Street.
