(NEW PALESTINE) - A Hancock County middle school will have extra security this week after a threatening message led to the arrest of a student.
Administrators at Doe Creek Middle School sent an alert to parents after learning that a student at the school sent a threatening text message to a fellow student. The student who sent the message was arrested and remains in custody, following an investigation by New Palestine police and the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.
"In the event you have heard about this situation, we wanted to assure you that this matter was handled swiftly and arrangements have been made for additional security at Doe Creek Middle School this week," the alert to parents stated.
The message gave no information about the specific nature of the threat contained in the message.
