(RICHMOND) (AP) - The parents of a 4-month-old Richmond boy who may have died of malnutrition have been arrested on neglect charges in the child’s death.
The Palladium-Item reports 21-year-old Amy Hockett and 26-year-old and Joseph Pierson were arrested Monday on one count each of on neglect of a dependent. They remained jailed Tuesday at the Wayne County Jail in the death of their son, Khaiden Hockett.
The child was pronounced dead Feb. 5 at the couple's Richmond residence after authorities responded to a call that a baby wasn't breathing.
Richmond Police Department Lt. Jon Bales said preliminary autopsy results indicate the child died of malnutrition. Police are awaiting a pathologist's official autopsy results.
