(EVANSVILLE) - Evansville Police are looking for the man involved in a stranger abduction and sexual assault on a child.
The call came in to dispatchers around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police say it happened in the area of Maxwell and Elliot in an alleyway.
Police say two juveniles were playing together in the alley when one was lured into a four-door maroon vehicle.
One of the juveniles ran to the house to call 911. The other child was in the car with the suspect, but managed to get away.
Right now, police are not releasing how long that child was held captive, but police do say the victim was sexually abused.
The suspect was able to get away.
Police say it's an unusual crime and they're concerned that if they don't catch this guy, he may commit a similar crime.
"These types of things don't happen in that area or in Evansville as a whole, so when it does, it's obvious there's a child predator in our area. We want to get that person identified," said Sgt. Jason Cullum.
Police say they have increased their patrol in the area, and they also ask for parents to have talks with your children.
This is the description of the suspect police are looking for:
• 40-years-old with black hair and beard
• He was last seen wearing a red and white vertical striped shirt
• He was driving a four-door maroon vehicle with a tan or brown interior.
If you have any information, Evansville Police ask that you contact them immediately.
