(MARTINSVILLE) - Portions of Washington Township could be annexed into Martinsville by the beginning of next year, according to the Martinsville city engineer Ross Hollway.
For more than two years officials have been developing annexation plans. Umbaugh, a financial consulting firm and attorneys have compiled information and will be making their recommendations probably in March.
Those proposals will include what Martinsville's extended city limits would be and include information about the costs of extending water and sewer services to the properties and potential tax revenues.
If all goes as planned the annexation process could be completed by Jan. 1 2013.
