(SOUTH BEND)(AP) - A South Bend police officer has been struck by a vehicle while helping other officers investigate a traffic accident.
Police spokesman Captain Phil Trent says the accident occurred about noon Saturday on South Bend's northwest side.
Trent says Sergeant Brian Kendall was off duty and was assisting at an accident scene when one of the cars moved, and he was pinned between two cars.
Trent says Kendall was taken to a nearby hospital with a possible compound fracture of his leg.
Kendall is a school resource officer assigned to Riley High School in South Bend.
