(UNDATED) - State law is requiring Vectren to reduce the amount of energy used by its customers by two-percent each year for the next 10 years.
The requirement is part of a so-called "green" state initiative.
About 75,000 customers have already been randomly selected in Dubois, Gibson, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties for a study by the energy company.
For the next two years, these Vectren customers will be receiving specific reports on their home's energy use.
The reports will help Vectren identify where energy savings could be implemented for its residential customers.
