(FORT WAYNE) - A Fort Wayne police officer has been fired for conduct violations that included wearing his uniform while working at a mobile hot dog stand he owns.
The city's Board of Public Safety voted 2-1 on Thursday to fire William Drake after four years on the police force.
Police Chief Rusty York says Drake wasn't on duty when working at the hot dog stand, but tells The Journal Gazette that his actions brought ridicule on the department. York says Drake had a pattern of poor decision making and neglect of duty.
Drake says he was disappointed by the board's decision. He says he'll concentrate on his hot dog business now since that is his only source of income.
