(EVANSVILLE) - A domestic dispute in Evansville led to a police pursuit and a man taking his own life.
Nicole Niziolek of WFIE reports that the police chase started at 1101 Indiana Street around 11:15 Monday night, where police say a man with a gun and his girlfriend were fighting.
When officers arrived, they say the man forced the woman into a truck at gunpoint and took off. Police say the man led officers on a chase that ended at Highway 41 and Walnut Street.
Officers say the woman jumped out of the moving truck after the man fatally shot himself. Fortunately, an officer was able to stop the vehicle before it rolled into oncoming traffic.
The man's name has not yet been released.
The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was rerouted around the area for a few hours overnight.
