(INDIANAPOLIS) - A bill penned by Ind. Rep. Woody Burton of Whiteland and signed into law will expedite foreclosure proceedings when it comes to abandoned properties.
Burton says the process currently takes over a year at 420 days. If the property is proven to the court that it has been abandoned, 60 to 90 days can be knocked of the process.
Burton says the legislation will get rid of eyesores that lower property values of surrounding homes.
