(NORTH VERNON) - Former Geneva Township Fire Chief Shane Blackburn has turned himself in to authorities after allegedly stealing money from the fire department and his place of employment.
The arrest at about 5 p.m. Thursday caps an Indiana State Police investigation that began in January, after officials at Ellis Gas and Oil Co. reported they suspected 35-year-old Blackburn, of Jennings County, of stealing from them.
According to police Blackburn also allegedly stole from the fire department, where he served as chief.
He faces two felony charges of forgery and seven charges of alleged thefts that happened June 2011 and January. He is being held at the Jennings County Jail.
