(UNDATED) - Baby food maker Gerber is recalling certain packages of its powdered infant formula after complains of an odd smell.
Affected products are only from the Gerber Good Start Gentle powdered formula in 23.2-ounce plastic packaging.
The company says the recall is limited only to those products with the batch number GXP1684 and an expiration date of March 5, 2013. No other Gerber products are involved.
Gerber officials say the product poses no health or safety risk. No injuries or hospitalizations have been reported, but several cases were noted of spit-up and gastrointestinal complains.
Retailers are also being asked to remove any remaining products from store shelves.
Consumers who believe they have been affected should call Gerber Parents Resource Center at 1-800-487-7763 for replacement.
