(LAPORTE)(AP) - An inmate has been released by mistake from a northern Indiana jail, the third time it’s happened in five weeks.
WSJV-TV reports the latest release occurred Feb. 28, when Jervon Martin was released because of what Sheriff Mike Mollenhauer calls a paperwork mistake. Martin was
being held on drug and resisting law enforcement charges for St. Louis police.
The mistake wasn't discovered until Tuesday, when St. Louis police arrived to pick Martin up. Police say Martin remains at large.
On Feb. 12, a man being held on a domestic violence charge was released, apparently because he shared the same name with another man scheduled to be released. On Jan. 26, another inmate was let go when he identified himself as another inmate. They were both recaptured.
